Adequate hydration helps our cognitive function, digestion, waste elimination, blood sugar balance, reduces hunger and sugar cravings, improves skin turgor and blood pressure.
Tips for drinking more water:
— If you use a small drinking glass change it to a bigger one
— Drink a glass or two of water on waking in the morning
— Increase water by one glass a day at the beginning if suddenly increasing your water intake seems too difficult
— Know the volume your water bottle holds and keep it with you all day. Fill it when it is empty. Either keep sipping throughout the day or set a regular alarm to remind you to drink every 30-60 minutes.
— Have a filter jug at home and refill your glass/bottle from that to increase the quality of your water.
— Reduce caffeine – reduce coffee or tea by even just half a cup at a time every few days or every week
Remember – start small! It’s okay to take time to make gradual changes, and we are more likely to maintain changes if we incorporate them into our lives gradually and in small steps.
